The efficacy of three bio-control agents viz., Trichoderma viride, Trichoderma harzianum and Pseudomonas fluorescens were evaluated against downy mildew of pearl millet in glasshouse as well as in field conditions at research farm, Rajasthan Agricultural Research Institute, Durgapura (Jaipur) during cropping seasons of kharif 2016 and 2017. The seed treatment with Trichoderma viride (@ 6 g/kg seed) followed by one spray of Pseudomonas fluorescens (@ 1 x 10 8 cfu/ml) 21 days after sowing significantly reduced the downy mildew incidence and increased the grain and fodder yield. Seed treatment with Trichoderma harzianum followed by one spray of Pseudomonas fluorescens (@ 1 x 10 8 cfu/ml) 21 days after sowing were the next in reducing the downy mildew incidence at significant level.
Background: Bacterial blight pathogen (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. cyamopsidis) of clusterbean causes considerable damage every year during Kharif season and sometimes become very severe, which results in heavy loss in grain yield. Methods: On the basis of in vitro studies, most effective botanical, antibiotic and fungicide at highest concentration were used as individual and its combinations in field experiment during two consecutive years Kharif 2018 and 2019. Seeds of clusterbean cultivar RGC-936 were artificially inoculated with X. axonopodis pv. cyamopsidis by soaking in bacterial cell suspension (2.5x108 cfu/ml) for 30 min and dried under shade. The artificially inoculated seeds were used for sowing in field trial
Result: Field evaluation, the combined treatment, seed treatment with streptocycline @ 250 ppm followed two foliar sprays of streptocycline @ 250 ppm and 1st foliar spray of copper oxychloride @ 0.3 per cent and 2nd foliar spray of streptocycline @ 250 ppm at 15 days interval was found the most effective in reducing the per cent disease severity and increasing the grain and fodder yield in clusterbean.
The white grubs infests diverse crops of food and horticultural importance such as groundnut, sugarcane, kharif pulses, vegetables areca nut, ginger, potato, etc. and it inflict losses as high as 100 per cent, depending upon the severity of infestation have been uncommon. In present study, attemts have been made to explore the potentiality of entomopathogens for the management of the white grub Holotrichia consanguinea a serious pest in groundnut crop in Rajasthan during kharif seasons, 2018 and 2019. Results revealed that furrow application of Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae powder formulation @ 5 kg (1×1012 CFU/gm) and H. indica galleria @ 5000 galleria per hectare at the time of sowing were significantly superior in reducing the per cent plant mortality (28.00%, 29.33%, 31.77%, respectively) and increase yield over untreated control (12.82, 11.53, 10.78 q/ ha respectively).
