a B S t r a c t the extracts of Coleus forskohlii prepared by using hexane, chloroform, methanol, 80% methanol and water as solvents were screened for secondary metabolites and for its invitro anti-inflammatory activity. The extracts revealed the presence of alkaloids, phenols, tannins, proteins, carbohydrates, saponins, glycosides and cardiac glycosides and most of these compounds were observed in the aqueous, 80% methanol and methanolic extracts. DPPH antioxidant assay and the in vitro anti-inflammatory activity assays viz., BSa anti-denaturation and HrBc membrane stabilization assay indicated that the aqueous and methanolic extracts of Coleus forskohlii possess constituents with anti-inflammatory properties. TLC profile of the methanolic extract confirmed the presence of forskolin, which is a major bioactive compound isolated from the roots of Coleus forskohlii. of all the extracts that were tested for their in vitro anti-inflammatory activity, methanolic and aqueous extracts showed maximum activity.
Objective: This study was conducted to show Neuroprotective effect of aqueous extract of Centella asiatica in scopolamine induced cognitive impairment in mice. The improvement of cognitive impairment with Centella asiatica was compared against standard drug (Donepezil 50 µg/kg). Methods: Swiss albino mice (20-25 g) of either sex were randomly divided into 5 groups of 6 animals each. All the animals except the control group, received scopolamine (0.05 mg/kg) for 14 days.
An interesting species of lepiotaceous fungi, Leucoagaricus callainitinctus sp. nov., is described from Kerala State, India based on morphology and molecular phylogeny. This species is distinguished by basidiocarps that turn dark turquoise on bruising/handling or reacting with NH4OH. A phylogenetic study was conducted based on Maximum likelihood analysis of nrITS sequences. In the phylogram, the new species nested as a distinct lineage in a group, which consisted predominantly of members of section Piloselli of the genus Leucoagaricus. A comprehensive description, photographs of the basidiocarps and the microscopic structures, comparisons with phenetically similar and phylogenetically related species and a phylogram showing the placement of the new species are provided.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
