The linear polarized Cu L absorption spectra of Bi2Sr2Ca1-xYxCu2O8 (x=0.0,0.6) single crystals were measured. The polarization dependence is clearly observed in the Cu 2p
3/2 absorption peak. The energy shift between the E//c and E//ab spectra was about 0.5eV for x=0.0 and 0.3eV for x=0.6 sample. The angle-dependent X-ray photoemission spectra were also measured. The origin of the E//c component may be explained by the Pseudo-Jahn-Teller distortion of the Cu site.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
