Supporting the grieving and isolated demands create cost-effective solutions. Telephone support groups have attracted considerable interest, especially a suggestion that such groups may offer therapeutic benefits not available in traditional face-to-face groups. This article reviews available literature on the advantages and disadvantages of telephone networks for isolated clientele. It describes client feedback on a telephone-based initiative piloted with geographically dislocated parents who had lost a child to cancer.
