A detailed chemical examination of the Indian Ocean soft
coral Sinularia flexibilis yielded two
new cembranolide ε-lactones, sandensolide monoacetate (1)
and flexibolide (4), in addition to
the previously reported cembranolide δ-lactones, flexibilolide and
dihydroflexibilolide, and the
known cembranoid derivatives, sandensolide, cembrene A, and
flexibilene. Their structures
have been established by a study of their spectral data (UV, IR,
1H and 13C NMR, 2D NMR
(1H−H, COSY and NOESY), and mass
spectrometry.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
