Skincare products have had a huge impact on the skin of users either positively or negatively. Most people are becoming more concerned about the harmful effects of chemicals used in skincare products. In Malaysia, most of the users are Malays who are generally Muslims. As Muslims, they use Halal products that are free of porcine or animal substances that are not being processed according to Islamic principles. Hence, this study aims to explore the main factors which are taken into consideration when Malay students purchase skincare products. A total of 100 questionnaires were distributed to Malay students in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to gain feedback on the factors that influenced them to buy skincare products. The findings show that most Malay students considered Halal, product safety, brand, price and quality as being the most important factors when purchasing skincare products. This paper highlights that most Malay university students in Malaysia preferred to purchase skincare products that are Halal, safe, of high quality and reputable brands. They were even willing to pay more for high quality skincare products that fulfil the above criteria. Thus, the findings of this study have an implication on appropriate marketing strategies to be implemented for future skincare products to boost sales and profits in the Malaysian market.
In the past, there has been a preponderance of studies on entrepreneurs or small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia; however, very few studies concentrated on women entrepreneurs. Women entrepreneurs are known to be persistent and resilient in running their business. However, it may be interesting to focus on factors or components that contribute towards their resiliency. Hence, this study explores the critical components of entrepreneurial resiliency which play a significant role in the business survival of women entrepreneurs during and after undergoing economic crises. The term resilience comprises three components, namely hardiness, resourcefulness, and optimism. Hardiness refers to adaptive capacity, and not easily discouraged by failures. Resourcefulness, on the other hand, relates to cash flow, investment, relational networks, material assets, and the ability to adapt to changes, while optimism means the preparedness to make decisions, take action, and the ability to see the humorous side of things. The sample of the study consisted Nazatul Shima Abdul Rani et al. 112 of 100 women entrepreneurs, mainly food operators in Klang Valley who were selected randomly. Most of the women entrepreneurs were aged above 30 years, and more than half have more than 10 years' experience in running their business. A set of questionnaire with items on entrepreneurial resilience and its components-hardiness, resourcefulness, and optimism-was used to gain information among women entrepreneurs. The findings show that the most critical components for resilience during crises was resourcefulness, while optimism emerged as the most important component after undergoing crises.
In the early 2000s, Amazon created GameDay, a program designed to increase resilience by purposely injecting major failures into critical systems semi-regularly to discover flaws and subtle dependencies. Basically, a GameDay exercise tests a company’s systems, software, and people in the course of preparing for a response to a disastrous event. Widespread acceptance of the GameDay concept has taken a few years, but many companies now see its value and have started to adopt their own versions. This discussion considers some of those experiences.
This study aims to examine the relationships between the internal environment (IERH), basic requirement policy (PRRH), and the performance of retirement homes (PRH). 205 out of 400 questionnaires returned and used for the study. The three variables under study were IERH (8 items), the PRRH (6 items), and PRH (8 items). Reliability analysis was run and all three variables showed high Cronbach Alpha values ranging from 0.83 to 0.87 thus indicating high reliability. The findings of the Pearson Correlation analysis suggested that the relationship between IERH and PRH is r=0.80**; p=0.00, while the relationship between the PRRH and PRH is r=0.63**; p=0.00. The findings suggested that there was a positive and significant relationship between PRH with IERH and PRRH. IERH had a strong positive relationship with the PRH. In terms of the relationship between IERH and PRRH, there was a positive and a moderate relationship (r=0.54**; p=0.00). Hence, in order to promote good performance, a RH must ensure that the IERH either meets or exceeds the expectations of the tenants and fulfils the basic requirements of PRRH.
Failures happen, and resilience drills help organizations prepare for them.
