Article InfoCancer is one of the most life-threatening diseases worldwide. Over the last few years, several metabolites produced by marine fungi have displayed potent anticancer effects. In the present study the anticancer activity of marine fungus Penicillium cyaneum against HepG 2 cells (human liver carcinoma cells) was assessed by in vitro cytotoxicity assay. The results revealed that P. cyaneum ethyl acetate extract showed potent cytotoxic effects in HepG 2 cells, with cell viability (29.5%) observed at 1000µg/mL. The IC 50 of ethyl acetate extract of P. cyaneum was 242.24 μg/mL.
