As the Anthropocene epoch progresses, there is global interest in ensuring that forest ecosystems worldwide manifest resilience in the face of anthropogenic pressures (Reyer et al., 2015). Recent instances of zoonotic diseases linked to deforestation and forest loss have highlighted the vulnerability of and interconnections between forests and people (Brancalion et al., 2020). Furthermore, as urbanization continues to expand worldwide (Aronson et al., 2014), there is a need to mitigate negative impacts on forest habitat
