Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma is a relatively uncommon type of skin cancer that occurs most frequently on the hands. An 84-year-oldright-handedwomenpresented a recurrent cSCC of the 3rd finger four months following amputation and after declining adjuvant radiotherapy indicated given insufficient limits. Salvage hypofractionated Radiotherapy was performed with the 3D technique (60 Gy of RT in 20 fractions, at a daily dose fraction of 3 Gy over four weeks), with complete response and good aesthetic results.
Primary breast lymphoma is a very rare histological entity of breast cancer. The Clinical and radiological aspects do not present any particular specificities. Diagnosis is often delayed. The treatment is mainly based on chemotherapy. We report the case of a patient with high grade malignant non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The symptomatology was made of breast swelling. The remote extension assessment was negative. The patient received 6 courses of type R mini CHOP chemotherapy followed by three-dimensional radiotherapy with a dose of 30 Gy in 15 fractions for 3 weeks. An echo mammography in between treatment showed: a partial response at 50%. Controle PET CT scan performed 3 weeks after the last cure having objectified: Complete disappearance of the active subcutaneous nodule at the level of the QSE of the right breast. Breast localisation of lymphoma is very rare. His prognosis was considerably improved due to a multidisciplinary approach.
Basal cell carcinoma is a common, slowly growing, locally aggressive, and rarely metastatic skin cancer. Primary BCCs of the external auditory canal are extremely rare. A 67-year-old patient presented chronic otitis media associated with a mass in the concha and the external auditory canal of the left ear. The patient was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma of the EAC. Locoregional assessment on a CT scan revealed thickening of soft tissues in the external left auricle and external auditory canal. She underwent surgery. Given the insufficient margins, adjuvant radiotherapy was indicated. Radiotherapy was performed with the intensity-modulated radiation therapy technique in order to the overcome anatomical complexity of the region, cover the tumor bed, and preserve the organs at risk. BCC of the EAC is a rare and challenging entity, whose management is multidisciplinary. The main goal is to avoid local recurrence, as well as to improve the patient’s quality of life.
Purpose: Caregivers in radiation oncology are exposed to a high risk of burnout which sometimes causes serious consequences for their health, which can in turn affect patient care. In this study, we investigated the prevalence of burnout and its psychological impact on health professionals and determined the factors that predispose to the risk of burnout. Methods and materials:A cross-sectional survey was conducted with descriptive and analytical purposes among the different teams within the oncology and radiotherapy departments in different hospitals (CHU and regional hospitals) in Morocco, through an online self-questionnaire composed of sociodemographic data, professional data, working conditions, an assessment of interfering factors, the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the Generalised Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) scale. Results: One hundred and eighteen caregivers participated in this evaluation. 62.7% were physicians, 75.4% worked in university hospitals and 53.4% were in radiotherapy departments. Analysis of the three dimensions of the Maslach Burnout Inventory -Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) score found high scores in the dimensions of emotional exhaustion (81.4%) and depersonalisation (79.7%), and low scores in decreased personal accomplishment (46.6%). The evaluation of the impacts of burnout in the latter found a mean of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) at 12.45 + 7.84 and the mean of the GAD-7 at 9.73 + 5.98. Conclusion:Our results are in line with those found in the literature, hence the need for screening and active prevention of burnout among radiation oncology caregivers.
Jugulo-tympanic paragangliomas are rare benign tumors arising from the neuroectodermal cells of the tympanic cavity and the dome of the jugular vein. Surgical resection has long been the first-line treatment. However, when this is not possible, radiotherapy remains a therapeutic alternative allowing local control with less morbidity. We report the case of a patient with an unresectable tympano-jugular paraganglioma, the symptomalagy was dominted by chronic headaches and right sided hypoacousie, and the treatment consisted of external radiation therapy with a total dose of 50 Gy in 25 fractions, one fraction per day, 2 Gy per fraction using the IMRT technique. The evolution was good with disappearance of clinical symptomatology, significant local control with less toxicity.
