In 1974 21 specimens and in 1978 another 73 specimens of the Gobi agama (Agama stoliczkana altaica) have been removed from a population, inhabiting the Daschvanžel granitian rock outcrop in the region of the Bulgan river (most remote southwestern district of the Mongolian People's Republic) in order to establish a new population of this species under somewhat different climatical conditions to the north of the Mongolian Altai mountains near the Chovd city in the plains of the great Westmongolian lakes on a granitian massiv of the Ulan‐ul mountains. The ecological (including climatical) conditions of the dispenser and the new population as well as the method of collecting and transporting the lizards are described. All animals of the second portion (73 specimens) have been measured and weigthed (8 of them are retained for museal collection). Using this data the population structure (sex ratio, groups of different age) has been estimated (Abb. 1). In the future the new population will be controled by the Mongolian zoologists.
