Cerrobend alloy can be used effectively as shielding stent to reduce the adverse effects associated with external beam radiation therapy in unilateral buccal carcinoma patients.
Bhutanese population have access to both traditional and modern medicine. The record published in Annual Health Bulletin (AHB), Ministry of Health (MoH) recorded the number of people seeking modern medicine has drastically escalated over the past few years. Gelephu based Central Regional Referral Hospital (CRRH), established in 1960’s, sees the second highest number of outpatient department OPD cases in the country. As a result the number of clinical laboratory testing has also increased over the time. The ratio of annual OPD attendance and annual laboratory test recorded at the medical record and AHB depicted at the ratio of 1:1 until 2013 and the ratio increased to 1:1.9 in 2017, significant at p<0.05. The annual total laboratory test increased from n=118567 in 2013 to n=234869 in 2017, with almost an increase by average of 2% annually. The increasing number of test order, increases the probabilities for error. Hence, laboratory quality system is of paramount importance. The introduction of automation in Biochemistry (2014) and Hematology (2015), has significantly reduced analytical errors and has generated reliable, and quality assured reports. No reports have been published until now from CRRH to indicate the increasing clinical laboratory tests. Therefore, the data analysis from this study will present the ever increasing annual laboratory testing conducted at CRRH and would also provide the national medical procurement and supply division with information critical for annual supply forecasting.
Buccal carcinoma is one of the most common oral malignant neoplasms, especially in the South Asian region. Radiotherapy, which plays a significant role in the treatment of this carcinoma, has severe adverse effects. Different types of prosthesis may be constructed to protect healthy tissues from the adverse effects of treatment and concentrate radiation in the region of the tumor mass. However, the technique for fabrication of shielding stent with Lipowitz's alloy (cerrobend/Wood's alloy) has not been well documented. This article describes detailed technique for fabrication of such a stent for unilateral buccal carcinoma patients to spare the unaffected oral cavity from potential harmful effects associated with radiotherapy.
Sherubtse College under Royal University of Bhutan has a total of 1582 students, where 787 0f them are female. They suffer from menstrual and menstrual cramps every month and they use napkins to stay clean and healthy. As all the college girls are educated on the norms and use of sanitary napkins, the proper management of the waste generated is lacking. The disposal of used sanitary napkins and management is a challenge to the college management. This small research aims to investigate on how girls in college campus manage the menstural waste and the amount of sanitary napkins used. The lack of proper dumping areas leads to the improper sanitary waste management and sometimes the waste generated from the sanitary napkins are toxic and unhealthy. It is very important to initate some ways to dump the pads and its related problem should be seriously addressed by the college management. It is also important to come up with different soultion and management of these wastes for sustainable environment. Therefore, this research will be mainly mentioning about the suggestions and how the sanitary waste is being managed in Sherubtse College campus and the amount of sanitary pads used in a month or an year.
Aims: The purpose of this study is to identify the teacher’s awareness and adoption of bloom’s taxonomy in-class assessment (examination) by teachers of Gedu College of Business Studies (GCBS), Bhutan. Study design: The descriptive and content analysis was applied. Place and Duration of Study: Teaching faculty of GCBS and exam question paper for the year June 2020 was studied. The study was conducted between June 2019 and December 2020. Methodology: The census survey was done with 63 teachers of which 48 responded (38 men, 10 women). The teachers’ awareness of Bloom’s taxonomy was assessed in terms of knowledge and information received on bloom’s taxonomy, and the exam question paper was analyzed to comprehend, how adequately teachers have adopted bloom’s taxonomy in the assessment of the student. Results: Results revealed that all the GCBS teachers are aware of the concepts and the majority think that their understanding of the concepts is good and above (79.2%). Though teachers are aware and familiar with bloom’s taxonomy concepts, those concepts were not used accordingly in preparation for the exam paper. The overall marks distributed in six levels of Bloom's taxonomy show that exam paper questions are slightly skewed to the lower level of Bloom's taxonomy. Conclusion: Without a careful mapping of questions according to Bloom's taxonomy, the examination will not yield the desirable objective of the module.
