Average low yield in pea is associated with low yielder varieties for early segment in comparison with normal and late segment lines. Early segment varieties are short stature and have less no of pods. Supreme an early segment high yielding variety is developed that can be helpful in the increase of average per acre yield in Pakistan. ‘Supreme’ is an indigenous pea (Pisum sativum L.) variety developed through hybridization. It is early in pod bearing and produces pods in 55-60 days after sowing. It is competitive with all locally cultivated commercial varieties being established early in the field. The variety produces attractive pod size, sword shape, maximum no of seed per pod and higher green pod yield which indicates its superiority over existing early pea varieties being cultivated in country. This variety/line is tolerant to collar rot and powdery mildew diseases. No serious insect/pest on ‘Supreme’ has been recorded. This variety was approved by Punjab Seed Council in 2019 and its seed is available for dissemination.
