Regenerative medicine (RM), as a field of medical research and clinical practice, is, in itself, relatively new within the historical context of medicine, and the concept of regenerative aesthetics (RA) is newer still. In both cases, the traditional divisions of system-based medicine are replaced with a field defined by biological goals, in this case the recreation of normal/youthful functioning tissue. Regenerative medicine has the broad aim to replace tissue lost or damaged through disease, trauma, etc. 1 Regenerative aesthetics focuses on the regeneration of soft tissue lost or damaged due to aging processes which consequently impacts on the aesthetics of the individual.
