Critical thinking, an outcome criterion of the National League for Nursing and the Council of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs, is an abstract skill difficult to measure. The authors provide a comprehensive review of four instruments designed to measure critical thinking and summarize research in which the tools were used. Analysis of this information will empower nursing faculty members to select a critical-thinking instrument that is individualized to the needs of their respective nursing programs.
The Pfizer International Medical Management System (PIMMS) is a computer based program developed to manage development projects and expedite the registra tion and launch of new products, to provide immediate access by Pfizer Headquar ters and subsidiary staff to current information available, and to facilitate commu nications among users. Two features of PIMMS, the Registration Tracking system and the Pfizer International Formulary, are described. Use of the registration track ing component has increased Pfizer's efficiency in expediting the registration and launch of new products through the ability to anticipate country needs by improved communications.The formulary database provides opportunities for expanded product lines through a cross pollination process and provides rapid identification of where products are marketed.
