Analytical failure prediction and fxpcrimental evaluation of baltcd connections in composite drivcshsfts is invesligated. The load state and geometry existing in a shaft diner from that typically considered in the flatplate, tension-loaded eases found in the literature. A failure criteria is proposed to predict the connection strength via finite clement analysis. The effects of various design parameters on connection strength are investigated. Experimental verification of analytical results is presented for various test configurations. Goad eorrelation between analytical predictions and test results is shown to exist.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
