Changes in physical properties during Loop continuous emulsion polymerisation reactor runs were studied, with particular reference to particle size distribution. Cycling of properties similar to those reported for continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTRs) was found. The cycling of properties was attributed to an intermittent creation of new particles caused by changes in surface area. It was predicted that cycles would die away and an equilibrium would be established. This occurs in practice.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
