The immobile vocal cord is associated with a worse prognosis and is therefore factored into the American Joint Commission on Cancer staging for laryngeal tumors. We show that vocal cord immobility is an independent prognostic factor of recurrence even after treatment and can predict treatment failure in T2 and T3 lesions of the larynx.
