To quantify the visual effect of local dimming products by optical parameters, a complete halo testing methodology was proposed. Besides, the fitting curve between Halo and Halo CR (contrast ratio) was also presented. Based on which Halo CR of different local dimming backlights with various zones and LED types can be simulated.
The display with mini LED backlight has been known for the superior property of high contrast ratio and low power consumption. And it is also known for the field of display that high brightness and high reliability is requested for the automotive display. In order to achieve mini LED backlight application in automotive display, achieve the high reliability demand under high brightness situation is needed. Herein the application in automotive mini LED backlight materials, such as white ink, color conversion film &3D reflector etc. were tested and discussed. For the challenge of power and thermal issue, Comparison with the difference between conventional backlight and mini LED backlight were also mentioned. Area scan is a special visual performance SPEC for automotive display and herein the difficulty and improvement concept were also studied.
