Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered individuals to increase their healthy behaviour in order to prevent transmission, including improving their immunity potentially through the use of alternative medicines. This study aimed to examine public interest on alternative medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic using Google Trends in Indonesia. Methods: Employing a quantitative study, the Spearman rank test was used to analyze the correlation between Google Relative Search Volume (RSV) of various search terms, within the categories of alternative medicine, herbal medicine and practical activity, with COVID-19 cases. In addition, time lag correlation was also investigated. Results: Public interest toward alternative medicine during COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia is dramatically escalating. All search term categories (alternative medicine, medical herbal, and alternative medicine activities) were positively associated with COVID-19 cases (p<0.05). The terms ‘ginger’ (r=0.6376), ‘curcumin’ (r=0.6550) and ‘planting ginger’ (0.6713) had the strongest correlation. Furthermore, time lag correlation between COVID-19 and Google RSV was also positively significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: Public interest concerning alternative medicine related terms dramatically increased after the first COVID-19 confirmed case was reported in Indonesia. Time lag correlation showed good performance using weekly data. The Indonesian Government will play an important role to provide and monitor information related to alternative medicine in order for the population to receive the maximum benefit.
Context:The waste of landfill produced in three phases, they were solid, liquid (example leachate), and gas. The waste had contaminated three environmental media; air, soil, and air. Operational of landfill also has an impact on the environment and public health. This review is specifically to analyze partially the impacts of the municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill, the impact on environmental pollution and the impact on public health. Settings and Design: This study is a literature review that discusses various literatures on environmental impact and public health caused by municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill. Methods and Material: The data sources of this study come from literatures obtained through the internet in the form of scientific journal articles that can be traced online. The study in this paper focuses on discussing several scientific articles in reputed international journals that carry out research related to the impact of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Landfill. Statistical analysis used: The data were processed descriptively to describe various environmental and public health impacts arising from the landfill. Results: Environmental impacts are: chemical pollutants such as heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Fe, Ni, Pb, Zn, Mg), methane gas, H2S, CO, microorganisms such as Coliform, Clostridia perfringens (Veillon & Zuber 1898, and Hauduroy et al. 1937), Shygella dysenteriae (Shiga, 1897, and Castellani & Chalmers 1919) . While the health effects are the symptoms of skin irritation, eye irritation, gastro intestinal tract disorders, allergies, nasal irritation, and other symptoms. While the risk of cancer is very low risk.
Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem caused by lack of nutrition for a long time. Sumberwringin Village is one of the villages in Bondowoso Regency with a fairly high number of cases of stunting under five and is one of the fostered villages of the University of Jember that requires assistance in resolving public health problems, especially regarding the handling of nutrition and stunting problems. Food and nutrition insights from community program actors, such as nutrition cadres, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers play an important role in efforts to prevent and improve stunting problems in Indonesia. The aim of the implementation of this community service activity is to increase the competence (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) of posyandu cadres in providing education to the community about stunting prevention based on community participation through changes in personal hygiene and sanitation, and preventing pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers gave birth to a stunting baby. The subjects of the training activities were 34 pregnant women and mothers under five in Sumberwringin Village, Sumberwringin District, Bondowoso Regency. This activity was carried out by means of lectures and discussion questions and answers regarding the material of Stunting Prevention with the PHAST Method. The results of this activity indicated that there was a significant difference in the level of knowledge among all participants before and after being given material related to stunting and environmental health with an average increase of 30 points. This activity can be concluded that community service activities in preventing stunting through Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation (PHAST) are able to increase participants' knowledge about Stunting Prevention with the PHAST Method.
