We report the continuous variation of the spin moment of cobalt in LaCoO3 across its temperature and pressure-induced spin transitions evidenced with Kβ emission spectra. The first thermal transition is best described by a transition to an orbitally nondegenerate intermediate spin (S=1) state. In parallel, continuous redistribution of the 3d electrons is also indicated by partial fluorescence yield X-ray absorption spectra. At high pressure, our study confirms that the material becomes low spin between 40 and 70 kbar at room temperature.
A stepper is a tool that displays all the steps of a program's execution. To implement a stepper, we need to reconstruct each intermediate program from the current redex and the evaluation context. We regard evaluation contexts as delimited continuations and capture them using the control operators shift and reset. This enables us to implement a stepper concisely by writing an evaluator that is close to a standard big-step interpreter. Our implementation is a non-trivial application of shift and reset.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
