We measured spectral refiectance and absorptance ofphotonic crystals prepared by selfLassembling of silica micro − spheres . The measured spectral absorptance was enhanced at the edge ofthe photonic f ヒ equcncy gap .We calculated the spectral hemispherical absorptance Qf a three−dirnensional photonic crystal with defects by using the rigorQus coupled wave analysis ( RCWA ) . Ihe calculated periodic stucture was made by using a SEM image of photonic crystals , The calculated spectral hemispherical absorptance is enhanced in the near −infrared . The enhancement of absorptance cannot be explained by the analytical model fbr a photQnic crystaL The abso 叮 } tance ofaphotonic crystal can be enhanced by the defects o 負 he per 正 odic structure .
