ChemInform Abstract Cystine (I) is converted to cystine hydantoin (III) by two-fold cyclocondensation with KCNO (II). The disulfide (III) is treated with excess benzyl bromide (IV) in the presence of potassium carbonate to give the title compound (V) and dibenzyl disulfide (VI).
