This is the first study to demonstrate that increased perirenal fat increases operative complexity as measured by operative time. This information may potentially be used to help predict operative complexity based upon measurable preoperative variables and help improve operating room efficiency and donor and recipient outcomes.
Implementing a decreased fluoroscopy protocol during percutaneous nephrostolithotomy resulted in an 80.9% reduction in fluoroscopy time while maintaining success rates, operative times and complications similar to those of the conventional technique. Adopting this reduced fluoroscopy protocol safely decreased radiation exposure to patients, surgeons and operating room staff during percutaneous nephrostolithotomy.
In this retrospective series, transecting and non-transecting primary bulbar urethroplasty resulted in similar long-term stricture resolution rate. Prospective studies are needed to determine what differences may present in outcomes related to sexual function and long-term success.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
