with 1.8 ϩ 1.6 day hospital stay. The mortality rate was 0.09% (1/1079) [95%CI 0.00%-0.52%] and serious complication rate was 2.2% (24/1079) [95%CI 1.4%-3.3%]. The second cohort included a representative national weighted sample of 331 UPPP patients, 83% male, age 45 ϩ 11 years, with 1.7 ϩ 1.2 day hospital stay. The mortality rate was 0.00% (0/331) [95%CI 0.00%-0.91%] and serious complication rate was 1.5% (5/331) [95%CI 0.4%-3.5%]. Age, sex, and year were not associated with complication (all P Ͼ 0.20), but concurrent nasal procedures may be (P Ͻ 0.10).Conclusions: Inhospital death and serious complications following inpatient UPPP were rare in these multi-institutional non-VA cohorts, consistent with rates seen in the large, multi-institutional VA cohort published previously.
