Eolian dusts collected after dust storms contain aggregates that are cesmutted by evaporitic salts, mainly halite. They vary in shape, fabrics, and t,:~ ace roughness Aggregation changes grainshape density and size dis--uuti0n ,c ~ ' ' . tran ,,, aust particles (i.e., characteristics determining erosion and inteSp°rt); on deposition in the sea, cements dissolve and aggregates disra:_ grate, leaving the resultant eolo-marine sediment component with a fr~eadlng paleo-climatic record. The eolian transport of salts with dust m the arid coastal plain to the sea constitutes a portion of anticyclic salt movement and probably plays a role in the geochemical balance of the OCeans.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
