Sustainable School Environment Award (SLASS) is an idea created to inculcate environmental education by instilling environmental values in the areas of management, curriculum, cocurriculum, and green sustainability to create living practices that are in line with the concept of sustainable development. This program is organized by the Department of Environment (DOE) and Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) with technical cooperation from the Institute of Environment and Development (LESTARI), National University of Malaysia (UKM), State Education Department, Local Authorities (LA) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO). Therefore, a study was conducted to identify the challenges and issues faced by the school during the implementation of the Sustainable Schools Program. The study uses qualitative methods, which use face-to-face interview techniques with video calls to collect data. Purposive sampling techniques aimed at nine teachers, who are coordinators of the Sustainable School Environmental Award (SLAAS) program, were interviewed to obtain information on the challenges and issues identified in the implementation of the Sustainable Schools program. The findings show that the challenges faced in implementing the SLAAS program are in terms of program management, collaboration among the school community, time constraints, financial constraints, and parental support, and external agency assistance. Besides, some issues were identified during the interview. Although there were various challenges and issues identified in the implementation of Sustainable Schools, the continuation of the Sustainable Schools program will raise their awareness and concern for the environment.
