Highlights* To quantify the economic implications and safety dimension of the 2018 Seismic Hazard Map of Turkey * The comparison of spectra calculated according to the 2018 Turkish Building Earthquake Code and the 2007 Specification for Structures to be Built in Disaster Areas * Contour maps for Acceleration Spectrum Intensity ratios
AimIn this study, the new seismic hazard map of Turkey and its predecessor were compared using the Peak Ground Acceleration and Acceleration Spectrum Intensity. Using 475-year earthquake values for grid locations of Turkey, the safety dimension and economic implications of the 2018 Seismic Hazard Map of Turkey were investigated.
LocationStudy area is located in Turkey.
MethodsThe ASI and PGA were compared for the current and previous hazard maps.
ResultsThe most prominent changes in the seismicity, according to ASI, were observed near fault regions and low seismic zones in the previous map.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
