In a series of screening for new antibiotics, it was observed that several strains of Streptomycetes produce D-4-amino-3-isoxazolidone and 0-carbamyl-D-serine simultaneously. This observation raised a question as to a possible relationship in the biosynthetic process of both antibiotics. Studies along this line were carried out and the results are presented in this publication.
