Glaser magnets are used in low energy beam lines for focusing ion beams and electrons. These are basically solenoid magnets with the difference that iron poles are inserted inside to enhance the field and thus the focal power. The field in a Glaser magnet is nearly Lorentzian. The transfer matrix, necessary for calculating the beam envelope through the magnet, is available for solenoids. But this is not available in the literature for Glaser magnets. We have calculated the transfer matrix for a Glaser magnet.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
