The purpose of this study is to analyze information needs and information usage of academic information users. This study aims to identify more specific information needs through an analysis of the gap between undergraduate and graduate users. Interviews with 20 users of K and S University were conducted for this study. As the result of this study, we found that the information needs from undergraduate and graduate users are different. The undergraduate users were less satisfied (30%) with information results than the graduate (90%) users and types of their needed information were more diversified. Additionally, the study suggests that information services for undergraduate users should be developed more seriously because their information satisfaction was considerably lower even though they actively utilize information.
The purposes of this study are to analyze relevance judgement of college students' problem solving process and suggest improvements for information literacy education in higher education. The in-depth interviews were conducted with 9 subjects to identify relevance judgement processes and problems. As a result, the main problems during relevance judgement processes were judgement about content of document aligned with subject's opinion, judgement about reliability of newspaper articles, shortage of relevance judgement time due to deadline of an assignment and judgement of relationship of documents and evaluation result. The recommendations for information literacy education are as follows: objective relevance judgement education, guidance of reliable information source, showing guideline of using reference information by professor and emphasis of engaging in information (4.1 stage of Big 6).
The purpose of this study is to propose a management plan of the pop-up library model that is developed as part of the outreach library service recently. Especially this study focused the method for meeting the citizen's right to know by providing various information of the pop-up library in social fields such as a national disasters. The survey and In-depth interview (a volunteer of Sewol ferry disaster and a participant of 2013 Busan International Film Festival) were done for this research. As the results of the investigation, the lack of communication and information between members in constrained situations were pointed pointed out as important problems. With these findings, this study suggested the pop-up library model management plan in information-constrained situations.
