Samad, A., Awaz, K.B. and Sarkate, L.B. 1994. Diagnosis of bovine traumatic reticulo-peitonitis 11. Blood trypsin inhibitor as a diagnostic test. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 6 : 19-26.The studies revealed that in bovines suffering from traumatic reticuloperitonitis, (TRP) trypsin inhibitor concentration (TI) in blood is substantially elevated. Considering the cut-off blood level 8 m d m l , the test was found to have predictive value, gain in certainty and likelihood ratio comparable to the radiological examination. The TI levels decreased sibqificantly after the retrieving of the metallic object on su,wev, which demonstrates a direct relationship. The spot-test devised to measure TI levels below or at 8 mg / ml is also equally effective in screening the negative or positive cases. It is concluded that if the bovine animal is exhibiting clinical signs, such as chronic tympany, brisket oedema and or abdominal pain and the blood TI is at or above 8 m d m l , the animal could be diagnosed positive for TRP.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
