The article analyzes the role of insurance in the practice of railway transport. The railway industry is of particular importance for the Russian Federation due to its geographical position and long distance. Given the importance for the country and the pace of development of the transport industry, the insurance field in this segment, in our opinion, is almost not covered. All this suggests that the current practice of insuring railway transport does not cover all the interests of the organizations in the transport industry. Many organizations attract borrowed sources of financing, use various financial instruments, use a commercial loan, carry out operations in foreign currency, etc. The management of financial risks is necessary because of their enormous influence on the results of the entire activity of the organization. The article analyzes the financial risks arising from the organizations of the transport industry, as well as put forward ways to minimize their negative impact.
