A numerical investigation of instability of an aeroelastic model subjected to an external disturbance is carried out with pitch, plunge and flap motions. The uncontrolled response of a model is very dangerous and catastrophic in nature. To control the dynamics, the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) a form of feedback control methodology is used in conjunction with a neural network as a state-observer to estimate the parameters to control the model. The controller performance is studied against the conventional LQR control. Time-domain simulations are conducted near the flutter regions. Results are shown in the form of graphs and tables.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
