The near-£> electronic structure and Fermi surface of Bi2Sr2CaCu20s+* have been mapped out with angle-resolved photoemission. Key features of the measured band structure are (l) an extended region of flat Cu02 derived bands very near £> and (2) a strong propensity for Fermi surface nesting. Comparative analysis of these data with those from other cuprate superconductors suggests that these features may be responsible for many of the anomalous physical properties of the p-type cuprates, while the absence of these features may be related to the more "normal" physical properties of the n types.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
