In the present study, we determined the frequency of superficial and cutaneous mycoses and their etiologic agents during a 7-year period (2002–2008) in Natal, Brazil. A total of 1,717 specimens of skin, nail, and hair were collected from 1,382 patients with suspected mycoses lesions and were then subjected to direct microscopy and culture.

Microsporum canis in Healthy Angora Rabbits
A survey on 201 healthy rabbits from Valdivia, Chile was conducted. M. canis was the only dermatophyte isolated (54.7%).

Se estudió, en Valdivia, la presencia de dermatofitos en 201 conejos mediante la técnica del tapete de Mariat y Tapia. En el 54,7% de los conejos fue posible aislar solamente Microsporum canis.
