Encyclopedia Development Based on Local Potential in Wakatobi on Animalia Invertebrates (Mollusca and Echinodermata) material. The study aims at producing Encyclopedia based on local potential as learning source which has specifications and valid, practical as well and effective. The study was a research and development (Research & Development / R & D), adapted the ADDIE model which consisted of 5 stages, namely: (1) Analysis; (2) Design; (3) Development (4) Implementation; and (5) Evaluation. Data collection used validation questionnaire to exame validation of the encyclopedia based on local potential, questionnaire of teacher and student’ responses to exime the practicality of encyclopedia based on local potential, and learning result test to exime the effectiveness of encyclopedia based on local potential. Data were obtained from the result of analysis using descriptive statistics analysis. The results shows that specifications encyclopedia based on local potential which had been developed presented the material with the local animal pictures. The results of the study reveal that the total mean score of encyclopedia validity based on local potential overall is in valid category (4,23), the overall teacher’s response is in positive category (89,23), and student’ response is in very psitive category (82.83%), and it has met the practical criteria. The encyclopedia based on local potential has also met the effective criteria that 35 students passed according to the criteria, which is over 80% passed medium criteria.
The quality of science learning in the science field is still low. This study aims to determine the effect of the scientific approach on students' communication skills and understanding of concepts related to pollution materials. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest design with only control groups. The study population consisted of all seventh-grade students at the SMP Negeri 9 Buton enrolled in the even-numbered semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The study sample consisted of 45 students. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. A multiple-choice test served as an instrument for examining the communication skills and understanding of the students' concepts. Research data is analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results showed that a scientific approach had a positive and significant impact on students' communication skills and understanding of pollution concepts. Key words: Scientific approach, Communication skills, Understanding of concept Abstrak Mutu pembelajaran IPA pada bidang sains masih rendah.
Comparison of Project Based Learning and Guided Inquiry in the Development of Understanding of High School Student Concepts. This study aims to compare the understanding of concepts in the Excretion System material between students taught using Project Based Learning (PjBL) and Guided Inquiry (GI). This research is in the form of a quasi experiment with a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research is the XI grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kendari, 2018/2019 Academic Year. The sample of this study was students of Class XI MIPA 1 as an experimental group taught by the PjBL model and students of Class XI MIPA 2, taught by the GI model. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using the SPSS program. The conclusions of this study are (1) There is a significant difference in the understanding of concepts in the excretion system material between students taught with project based learning models and students taught with guided inquiry models as evidenced by differences in the average value of students' posttest and G-gain value in each indicator of concept understanding, (2) Students of the project based learning model class gain significantly higher concept understanding than the group of students in the guided inquiry model class.
Changes on the mangrove ecosystem, directly and indirectly, affect the living organisms associated with it, including Molluscs. This study aimed to investigating Molluscs species in mangrove ecosystem of Kendari Bay. It is descriptive research containing facts and natures of mangrove Mollusc species. This study conducted from September to November 2020. Observing and collecting the Mollusc organisms were carried out in four mangrove ecosystems like Bruguiera, Bruguiera/Rhizophora, Rhizophora, and Avicenia. The method used in this research was an exploring technique by collecting and counting the found Mollusks. Indicators of observing the Mollusks included morphological characteristics and environmental parameters. Three important environmental parameters, like salinity, acidity (pH), and temperature, were measured during field works using hand refractometer, pH tester, and thermometer, respectively. This research indicates about 279 individuals of Mollusks found in all zones consisting of 17 species representing two classes, Gastropod (14 species) and Bivalves (3 species). During this research, the Gastropod Mollusks found Telescopium-telescopium, Terebralia palustris, T. sulcata, Cerithideopsilia cingulata, C. alata, Nerita squamulata, Cerithidea quadrata, C. obtusa, Latirus paetelianus, Cerithium kobelti, Chicoreus capucinus, Nassarius stolatus, N. niticusis, Siphonalia varicosus. For the three species of Bivalves are Polymesoda erosa, Anadora granosa, and Sacostrea cucullata. The both species T. sulcata and S. cucullata positively dominated all total found Gastropods and Bivalves namely 21.86% and 3.943%, respectively. The three water quality parameters measured at research stations are still on tolerance limits for the collected molluscs.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
