An unusual case is presented in which there were three canals in the distal root of a mandibular first permanent molar. The anomaly was not detectable radiographically, but could be important during root canal treatment. The variation may be related to the occurrence of a contralateral three‐rooted molar seen in the patient.
The undergraduate dental students at Hong Kong‐University are introduced to endodontics early in their clinical years. One technique is taught and performed using dry mounted skulls in accordance with the objectives laid down by the British Endodontic Society. An accomplishment test at the end of the course allows students and teachers to evaluate the progress made.
