There was an improvement in QoL for patients at 2 years post-surgery compared to pre-treatment. There is an association between QoL and quality of communication as reported by participants at 2 years post-surgery. These novel findings are similar to outcomes in other patient settings such as oncology, but further investigation is required to establish the direction of cause and effect.
This study shows that patients requesting lingual orthodontics have expectations that are similar in quality but greater in extent when compared to those seeking labial orthodontics.
Safeguarding is an important part of an orthodontist’s working life, as such there are several organisations and a plethora of legislation. These strive to ensure orthodontists implement the safeguarding agenda in their working environment. This article will provide background information on safeguarding. It then focuses on the development and training of dentists. The article looks at approaches that have been used in a hospital setting to engage staff and to generate clinical implementation.
