Disasters refer to disruptions causing human, material, and environmental losses affecting lives and assets. Dangerous and disruptive events have adverse impacts on our natural and built environments. Natural, technological, or social hazards may or may not be predictable. Earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes are examples of natural events that are hazardous to people and the environment. Technological and social disasters may be terrorism, migration, economic recessions, water contamination, nuclear incidents, and such like that are also disruptive and cause stress especially to the affected people.
