SUMMARY A feasible schedule of oral administration of penicillin consisting of 800,000 units daily for seven consecutive days the first week of each month throughout the school year has been shown to be effective in significantly reducing the incidence of hemolytic streptococcic infections in the throats of children who have had rheumatic fever.
