Investigation of an organic extract of the fruits Schisandra wilsoniana led to the isolation of two new highly oxygenated nortriterpenoids, named schilancidilactones V-W (1-2). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic evidence. Compounds 1-2 feature a double bond between C-7 and C-8 compared with related known nortriterpenoids isolated from the genus Schisandra. Compounds 1 and 2 were tested for their anti-HIV-1 activities and cytotoxicity. The results revealed that compounds 1 and 2 showed moderate anti-HIV-1 activities with EC 50 3.05 and 2.87 µg/mL, respectively, and compound 1 showed high cytotoxicity against KB and MDA-MB-231 cell with IC 50 values of 3.18 and 5.22 µM, respectively.
Aurones and Isoaurones from the Flowers of Rosa damascena and Their Biological Activities. -New aurone (I) and new isoaurone (II), damaurones A and B, resp., (II) are isolated from the title rose together with five known compounds. Aurone (I) has significant potential anti-HIV-1 activity with therapeutic index above 80 and shows high cytotoxicities against the cell lines NB4 and MCF7. -(GAO, X.-M.; YANG, L.-Y.; HUANG, X.-Z.; SHU, L.-D.; SHEN, Y.-Q.; HU, Q.-F.; CHEN*, Z.-Y.; Heterocycles 87 (2013) 3, 583-589, http://dx.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
