Abstract-On the basis of the extended Huygens-Fresnel principle, the cross-spectral density matrix (CSDM) of partially coherent Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) beams in the slant atmospheric turbulence is derived. Given that the light emitted from a transmitter is elliptically polarized light, the degree of polarization (DoP) of the partially coherent GSM beams is represented by Stokes parameters expressed by the elements of the CSDM. The expressions of the orientation angle, polarized light intensity in the major axis are derived and the numerical results are presented. Depolarization theory is studied using a Mueller matrix and the depolarization index (DI) is obtained to describe the depolarized state of the partially coherent GSM beams propagating in the slant atmospheric turbulence. Results show that the DOP and DI of the beam tend to their initial value in the long-range propagation.
Hydrophilic Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber ultrafiltration membranes were prepared by wet-spinning method. The effects of technical parameters of acrylic acid grafted onto PVDF on the performance of hydrophilic PVDF membranes were investigated via orthogonal test, the technical parameters of preparation of hydrophilic PVDF membranes were determined, and hydrophilic PVDF membranes were prepared. Then hydrophilic PVDF membranes were characterized in terms of breaking strength, breaking elongation, rupture pressure, pure water flux and rejection. The fouling properties and the conditions of acrylic acid grafted onto PVDF were also examined. The results showed that acrylic acid had been grafted onto PVDF, the breaking strength and rupture pressure improved greatly, and the fouling properties were better than PS hollow fiber UF membrane.
Effective construction site layout planning (CSLP) shall improve construction operations efficiently and enhance work environment safety. The majority researches works on CSLP focused on developing different algorithms and program to generate site layout alternatives using quantitative and qualitative factors involved in the interaction flows. However, some qualitative factors, such as security and noise control are not taken into consideration. This study proposed intuitionistic fuzzy TOPSIS method to evaluate and select the best site layout from site layout alternatives in terms of the project-specific attributes, which are neglected and hard to quantify in generating site layout alternatives. The results show that the proposed method improves the quality of decision making in evaluation and selection of the best construction site layout.
In this paper, a novel nanocomposite forward osmosis membrane (nTiO2-CTA/CA) was fabricated by introducing nanotitaniumdi oxide (nTiO2) into the cellulose triacetate/cellulose acetate (CTA/CA)-based casting solution using phase inversion methods. Casting composite and preparation--nTiO2 content, blend temperature and coagulating bath temperature--were tested for their effects on pure water flux and salt rejection of membranes. Results revealed that the FO membrane prepared under optimized composition showed excellent desalination performance (high water flux = 5.38 L/m2·h and salt rejection > 97 %). Moreover, SEM images showed that addition of nTiO2 resulted in nanocomposite forward osmosis membrane with a smoother surface. The contact angle of the membranes decreased from 76o to 51° with increase nTiO2 concentration from 0% to 0.10%.
