Topical issues of investment management for the implementation of the Long-term Development Program of Russian Railways until 2025 are discussed in the article. It is proposed to use game simulation modelling for an investment plans’ development in the context of limited investment resources.

the authors reviewed the quality of operational work of railway transport in the cost management system, presented methods for assessing the impact of the quality of rolling stock on the current costs of transportation activities, considered the issues of the impact of the quality of operational work on the formation of freight market demand and of financial result of the transport company - the owner of infrastructure and traction rolling stock, represented methods of assessing financial and economic efficiency of improving the quality of operational work for the company - a participant of the freight market.

The authors reviewed the resource support of the transportation process security from the point of view of a promising direction as competitiveness and increase the sustainability of rail transport, accidents and events, their number and the damage suffered as well as transport analysis from the point of view of economic management security.

Competitive pressures and economic turbulence increase the need to find new ways to maintain a stable financial position. This task is also faced by the railway transport and makes transport companies look for new markets for new works and services. The article considers the market of track structure maintenance services and reveals the factors that influence the volume of this market. The authors of the article consider the pricing policy for track structure maintenance services. Based on the analysis of competitors’ prices and the pricing policy pursued by the infrastructure directorate, an approach to the formation of the pricing strategy in this market segment is proposed.
