The performance of teachers in realizing holistic education can be observed from how the teachers prepare, implement, and evaluate the learning process or their pedagogic knowledge. This study aims to examine the teachers’ ability to plan, implement and evaluate to assess their performance in the elementary school learning process based on tenure and gender. This research is a quantitative study with direct observation, which was conducted on 162 elementary school teachers from 30 public elementary schools in Semarang, Indonesia. Data were collected using assessment sheets. The observer was the principal which belonged to the same school as the respondent. The data were then validated using Pearson's correlation based on group tenure and gender. The instrument was analyzed using structural equation modelling (SEM) and showed that the imposition of the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was achieved more than a critical value of .50 which meant that the construct was valid and reliable. The understanding on teachers’ performance was indicated by teachers’ activities in preparing their class. This study found that there was no significant correlation between teachers’ performance and teaching experience or that and gender.
Process of learning needs development time by time. Following situation of teaching, it is important for educator to find materials which is understandable and enjoyable. One of materials that effective to be used is authentic material. The authentic materials are not designed for language learning, it is able to use as a tool to teach students and give them real experience in the classroom. Moreover, this paper aims to review research about authentic materials that is used in teaching and learning reading, especially (descriptive text). In order to get the goal, this paper reviews some researches from experts relating to the use of authentic materials in learning to read descriptive text. The author used around 40 articles which discussed about teaching English skills especially reading, authentic material and descriptive text. The author collected the data by surfing the international and national journal to be reviewed. The result shows that most of the studies recommend the educators use authentic materials to be applied in the classroom.
There are four main skills in learning English, writing, listening, reading, and speaking. In this research, the researcher focused on writing narrative text for tenth grader students of SMK PGRI 13 Surabaya. The medium that is used in this research is webtoon. It is kind of comic series which has picture and narration so it can be make the students learn how to write narrative text easier. The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of webtoon in developing students’ writing skill in narrative text. The researcher used quantitative method and the data were collected through pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire. The researcher used two classes, experimental class and control class to do this research. After the data were collected and calculated, the result showed that the average of score got an increasing. Before getting treatment, the average score of experimental class was 55 and after getting treatment, the average score was becoming 69. Furthermore, based on the students’ response, it showed that mostly the students agreed that webtoon is useful to use in learning English, especially writing skill so webtoon can be effective to develop students’ writing skill in narrative text.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of organizational culture and communication on principal decision making. The importance of decision made by principal becomes the background of this study. The mistake in decision making can reduce the school's ability to achieve its vision. This study aims to seek the effect of organizational culture and communication in decision making. This study was conducted in the state junior high school, Indonesia. The study involved 144 principals as the population and 105 of the principals as the sample. This research engaged quantitative approach with survey design. The result of study showed that there is significant, direct and positive effect of organizational culture and communication on decision making. The result of this study can be used to enhance the effectiveness in decision making by principals. It can be concluded that principals need to enhance the organizational culture and communication.
The objective of this research is to determine the influence of communication and creativity in the decision making process of principals at public elementary schools. Data were collected through observation, survey and by using questionnaires. Simple correlation, and linear regression were used to analyze the data obtained. 55 principals were randomly selected from a target population of 64. Using simple correlation, linear regresion, and path analysis, the data obtained were analyzed. Based on the result, the following positive direct effect can be seen between: (1) communication on decision making, (2) creativity on work decision making, (3) communication on creativity. Decision making can be improved by increasing the communication and improving creativity.
