Abstract:The accurate 3D documentation of architectures and heritages is getting very common and required in different application contexts. The potentialities of the image-based approach are nowadays very well-known but there is a lack of reliable, precise and flexible solutions, possibly open-source, which could be used for metric and accurate documentation or digital conservation and not only for simple visualization or web-based applications. The article presents a set of photogrammetric tools developed in order to derive accurate 3D point clouds and orthoimages for the digitization of archaeological and architectural objects. The aim is also to distribute free solutions (software, methodologies, guidelines, best practices, etc.) based on 3D surveying and modeling experiences, useful in different application contexts (architecture, excavations, museum collections, heritage documentation, etc.) and according to several representations needs (2D technical documentation, 3D reconstruction, web visualization, etc.).
An ontology model for the reality-based 3D annotation of Heritage Building Conservation state Journal of Cultural Heritage 2 of interconnected 3D annotations (2D/3D spatial regions related to semantic concepts), this dedicated ontology integrates data, information and knowledge for describing and monitoring stone degradation phenomena in order to assist Cultural Heritage experts within the decision-making process. Our approach for the reality-based 3D annotation of heritage buildings, related to the formal representation of structured knowledge belonging to its scientific observation, represents a promising way for guiding the collaborative analysis of the conservation state towards the progressive implementation of a shared and consensual representation of this domain knowledge.

b s t r a c tThis essay focuses on the fields of architectural documentation and digital representation. We present a research paper concerning the development of an information system at the scale of architecture, taking into account the relationships that can be established between the representation of buildings (shape, dimension, state of conservation, hypothetical restitution) and heterogeneous information about various fields (such as the technical, the documentary or still the historical one). The proposed approach aims to organize multiple representations (and associated information) around a semantic description model with the goal of defining a system for the multi-field analysis of buildings.
High-frequency coastal radars (HFRs) have proved to be excellent tools for monitoring coastal circulation, providing synoptic, high spatial and temporal resolution surface current data in real time. They may also give detailed information on the surface wave field of coastal areas. An HFR has been operating in the Gulf of Naples (south-eastern Tyrrhenian Sea) since 2004. In this paper we show the results of their utilisation in the study of the Gulf dynamics and sea state, with a focus on potential applications in the context of operational oceanography.
