The micro‐texture of a cold rolled and annealed ferritic stainless steel is characterized and its effects on the surface ridging during tensile deformation is successfully simulated using a developed crystal plasticity finite element model. The relation between the local crystallographic orientation distribution and surface ridging is analyzed.
