Both LL-37 and hBD-2 have an antiviral effect on VZV replication in the keratinocyte HaCaT cell line and in B cells, but their mechanism of action is different. Evidence of the relationship between antimicrobial peptide expression and higher susceptibility to infections in AE skin is still emerging. Developing novel antiviral therapies based on antimicrobial peptides may provide improved treatment options for patients with AE.
Some probabilistic aspects of the number variance statistic are investigated. Infinite systems of independent Brownian motions and symmetric α-stable processes are used to construct new examples of processes which exhibit both divergent and saturating number variance behaviour. We derive a general expression for the number variance for the spatial particle configurations arising from these systems and this enables us to deduce various limiting distribution results for the fluctuations of the associated counting functions. In particular, knowledge of the number variance allows us to introduce and characterize a novel family of centered, long memory Gaussian processes. We obtain fractional Brownian motion as a weak limit of these constructed processes.2000 MSC Primary 60G52, 60G15; Secondary 60F17, 15A52.
Analysis of levels of allergen-specific CD4+ T-cell production of IL-10 in relation to disease severity argues in favour of a role for IL-10 in the control of atopic dermatitis.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
