Effect of beam oscillation on microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion behaviour of electron beam butt weld of zircaloy-4 was investigated. Joints made with beam oscillation demonstrated higher ductility, toughness and notch tensile strength and higher corrosion resistance than the joints prepared without beam oscillation. Heat mixing and faster cooling associated with beam oscillation restrict unidirectional crystal growth favouring the development of a more uniform, fine basketweave widmanstätten structure in the fusion zone. Improvement in mechanical and corrosion properties using beam oscillation was attributed to the development of a more uniform microstructure, lesser segregation and lesser intermetallic precipitation in the fusion zone.
The present study deals with the effect of inlet air cooling on performance of simple combined cycle power plant (CCPP) .During hot days the density of air decreases, which reduce the mass flow rate of air in to compressor. The power consume by the compressor increases with increase in intake air temperature, which reduce net power output of gas turbine cycle. Mechanical refrigeration system at inlet of compressor has been used to reduce the inlet temperature of air to desired level. The performance analysis of CCPP was carried out using software developed in MATLAB.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
