A lesão traumática da aorta (LTA) torácica por trauma contuso apesar de ter baixa incidência é uma condição de elevada morbimortalidade. Com o desenvolvimento de novas tecnologias houve mudanças tanto no diagnóstico quanto no tratamento. Esta revisão foi realizada pesquisando o termo Blunt thoracic aortic injury no portal PubMed além de artigos indicados pelos orientadores e é uma tentativa de elucidar o tema e trazer as abordagens utilizadas atualmente.ABSTRACT Blunt thoracic aortic injury (BTAI), although low in incidence, carry high morbimortality rates. Along with technological improvement, there were developments both in the diagnosis and in the treatment of this entity. This review was developed by searching for the term "Blunt thoracic aortic injury", on the website PubMed, and analyzing articles designated by the advisors. It is an attempt to elucidate the matter and present the current approaches.
