This study is a means of validating the Harter's Social Support Scale for Children on a sample of Mexican and Mexican American ninth-grade students to assist researchers and practitioners to more accurately assess this variable on this specific Latino group. The psychometric information was obtained through intercorrelations and Cronbach's alpha. Results indicated that the scale was an adequate measure of perceived social support from parents, teachers, close friends, and classmates for the assessed sample.Resumen: Este estudio es un medio de validar la Escala de Apoyo Social de Harter para Niños a través de una muestra de estudiantes mexicanos y mexico americanos de noveno grado, para ayudar a investigadores y practicantes a evaluar esta variable en forma más precisa en este grupo latino específico. La información psicométrica se obtuvo a través de intercorrelaciones y Cronbach alfas. Los resultados indicaron que la escala era una medida adecuada de apoyo social percibido por padres, maestros, amigos cercanos, y compañeros de clase en la muestra evaluada.
